Mapcube Media already comes with the most complete and comprehensive dataset available and we are taking it one step further. Now clients will receive a 4 image set of global imagery at 500 meter resolution. This 4 image set contains a composite for each of the 4 seasons and certainly takes the system into another dimension. Combine this with the new WMS interface and you have everything you need to create the look of a local news story for anywhere in the world.
Mapcube has announced that we will be releasing V2.5 of Mapcube Media at this years NAB show. This latest version will contain increased functionality for place names and streets as well as our new WMS functionality. Our Web Map Server interface allows clients the ability to interface directly with data from the internet. This means clients with the WMS plug-in can interface with NASA and USGS WMS data freely as well as subscribe to the optional Digital Globe solution which has 1 meter resolution color satellite imagery of over 200 cities world wide with additional benefits.

Mapcube is now finishing the testing of a new feature which will give clients the ability to download imagery that is free and unrestricted for use via the USGS. Clients will have 1 meter resolution black and white imagery for the entire US and 25 cm resolution colour imagery for select urban areas. All that is required is that a proper credit be given when using these images. See US city samples in the new "Satellite Imagery" section on this web site.
Mapcube had a great show at this years IBC 2004 conference in Amsterdam. The company received great press such as "...fast risers like Nvidia, Front Porch Digital and Mapcube" quoted in the IBC Daily along with being one of the few companies chosen for the "What caught my eye" feature at the Conference.
Mapcube Media V2.1 can now be offered with our first major plug-in module. This allows users to automatically integrate and display point forecast weather data that is provided in the common XML format.
Mapcube Media users can now use the system for both news and weather graphics making it a truly multi-purpose system. Stations only need to reley on one price of software for both news and weather graphics which cuts down on learning time, hardware needs and more importantly; provides consistency in both news and weather graphics.
Need to create a special weather map for news or sports stories? Not a problem. Use the powerful graphics capabilities of Mapcube Media to make adjustments whenever needed without the cost of purchasing additional maps, everything you need is bundled in one product.
Mapcube released Mapcube Media V2.1 at IBC 2004 in early September. The latest version contains the innovative Image Manipulation Technology allows anyone to integrate and colour correct Landsat imagery that is freely available on the internet.
This innovative technoloy will allow any station, from local to global, the ability to download and use 15 - 30 meter landsat imagery as a layer in the Mapcube Media graphics system. This data has always been freely available for unrestricted use but has been released in hard to use formats with false colouring. This feature allows users the ability to show high resolution satellite imagery of nearly any city in the world to help explain to their viewers the news that interests and effects them.
